If you’re not familiar with my virtual walking maps and the walk area covered, they’re located here on the Walk My World side button. They reflect the actual 2-3 mile walk that I’ve taken complete with pictures, sights to see, shops to visit, or a great restaurant along the way.

Today’s walk in Barnsdall Art Park is a bit different in only one aspect–it’s an exercise walk. The walk itself is a little under ½ a mile, but after 30 minutes, along with having a good workout, you’ll be able to enjoy Barnsdall Park’s unprecedented Public Art, views of Los Angeles, and a sense of tranquility unlike any other location in a city the size of Los Angeles.

Including its 160 steps, and a gentle incline and upslope of its grassy and hilly ups and downs, the Barnsdall Art Park Walk will get your heart pumping while you’re nestled, literally, above the city.

Here’s a couple of the sights you’ll enjoy on your Exercise Walk at Barnsdall Art Park:

Entitled “Grand Ikebana I” by Michael Todd

Materials: Steel, Dimensions: 87”x94”x41”

A great view of both the Hollywood sign and the Griffith Observatory

To enjoy the additional photos from the Exercise Walk at Barnsdall Art Park, click the map or take the walk, or do both. So let’s get started Travelin’ Local at Barnsdall Art Park……………..

Every day in Los Angeles I’m amazed at the number, type, and uniqueness of our city’s small details that frequently we take for granted. For example, today– at the corner of Hollywood and Edgemont—I saw this painted multi-colored picture on a traffic light control box. I’m saying thank you to the artist who painted this as it added a smile to my morning.

Across the street, the Kids Dental Kare building mural is playful, colorful, has a happy message and creates a sense of neighborhood. The colors were fun on both the building and the wall in the foreground.

Next time you’re going to work in the morning, or going about your daily business, be sure to smell the roses while Travelin’ Local, as you’ll frequently encounter street art that equally deserves your attention.
